Serendipity
I took Georgia out to breakfast this morning. On the way there, we stopped at a garage sale, which I do only once in a while.
There were eleven martini glasses which I bought for five dollars. This brings my total lifetime garage sale purchases up to three.
Chris was delighted. It’s going to be so nice to be able to serve our friends martinis in martini glasses instead of wine glasses or, it’s true, jelly glasses.
It’s even nicer that I care.
having good glassware is awesome. in my 20s I bought these great vintage wine glasses, a little on the small side–i used them for serving a quickie chocolate mousse-y dessert that I thought was just the bomb. it impressed the other early 20 year olds. and buying it for cheap from a garage sale is even better, because you will not care about the hordes of marauding men (or children) who will inevitably fail to take proper care and destroy them, sniper like, one by one. actually, it only takes a horde of one to achieve the inevitable. score one for garage sales.
The real serendipity is Chris, who fills them with Manhattans and blue Margaritas.
